Currently, there are 190 McDonald’s restaurants in Switzerland, run by 46 independent entrepreneurs (franchisees). Because our business is growing fast, we are looking for talented people to strengthen our main offices that provide support to all restaurants. To complement its Legal department based in Crissier, McDonald’s Switzerland is looking to fill the role of :


Legal Counsel (80-100%)


We are looking for support for our dedicated Legal Department and are excited to offer an engaging opportunity as a Legal Counsel. In this role, you will advise the entire McDonald’s Switzerland organization on a wide range of legal and compliance matters, as well as contract management. In addition, you will be a member of the Global Legal and Compliance department and benefit from cross-functional and cross-market knowledge sharing and networking. Close collaboration with all McDonald’s Switzerland departments will offer you insights into the diverse economic interconnections of a successful, growing, and dynamic company, where you will actively contribute as a business partner.


Key Responsibilities



  • Focus on key contractual matters and manage contracts efficiently.

  • Contribute to the company’s success through smart legal advice.

  • Participate in the implementation of the global and local data protection program and provide legal advice on data protection, including assessing digital and AI technologies.

  • Independently draft, review, and negotiate a variety of contracts (e.g., supply, service, technology agreements, T&Cs, data processing agreements), particularly in an international group environment, and support contract management.

  • Provide comprehensive advice and prepare decision-making bases and action recommendations for internal departments on legal matters.

  • Deliver training sessions (in person or via e-learning) on legal and compliance topics.

  • Contribute to group-wide legal projects, including compliance initiatives such as ESG, etc.

  • Monitor legal developments and conduct targeted legal research on current topics



What You Need to be Successful



An engaged individual with an interest in international environments and a passion for the diverse new tasks and responsibilities found at the intersection of law and business.


 



  • A law degree in Switzerland (MLaw or lic. iur.) and ideally a Swiss bar admission.

  • At least 2 to 5 years of relevant professional experience as in-house counsel and/or in a law firm, ideally in an international environment.

  • Knowledge of data protection law and experience in implementing data protection programs, ideally with a CAS in Data Protection.

  • Strong experience in drafting and negotiating (commercial) contracts.

  • Proficiency in German and/or French, ideally with good knowledge of the other language, as well as strong spoken and written business English skills.

  • A resilient, flexible personality with team spirit and a hands-on mentality.

  • An efficient, solution-oriented and implementation-focused working style, with the necessary precision and structure.

  • Ability to present legal matters in a simple and comprehensible way for business partners.
